I absolutely love the kids' schools. Eden does some really fun things at preschool and the best part is the teachers send pictures almost daily so I get to see all the things she gets to do. The boys always are doing good things too. Here are some things that have been going on in March.
(3/21) Eden had a multicultural month and Eden missed the Ethiopia presentation when she had Covid, but she had a great time learning about Argentina! And we got to try empanadas.
I guess a lot happened for the kids at school because Joseph went on not one but two field trips! The first was to the California Science Center:
The second field trip was to the Ballona Wetlands. I heard this was the better field trip! I pulled some information from the website as I wasn't there to know exactly what Joseph did in every photo: "Ballona contains a complex mosaic of habitats defined mainly by hydrology, including wetland habitats, such as brackish and freshwater marshes, seasonally flooded freshwater wetlands, salt pans, riparian and upland habitats, like coastal sage scrub and sand dunes. Many wildlife species, especially birds, utilize more than one habitat type – thus the juxtaposition of these habitats next to one another, also known as heterogeneity, which is important for biodiversity." Well, here are the photos shared by the chaperones:
(3/29) The boys had a multicultural night at their school. Each class did artwork from an assigned country and all the kids did great! It was fun to see art from around the world. Then we got to go to the boys' classrooms for an open house. Let's take a look!

| Arrived! |
| South Korea 😂 |
| Tigers for South Korea. |
| Japan! |
| Joseph's rug he made for Serbia. |
| Teacups for England. |
Elijah did something for Iran, but we couldn't find his booth anywhere! Sad day. Maybe his art piece will come home soon.
Joseph is in a couple after school programs and one of them is called Eco Station. They bring different animals into the school for the kids to learn more about. They stayed extra long so they could show off more animals to the school. I think this was the biggest hit.
| This is a tegu lizard. |
| I kinda want one! |
| Joseph says her name is Harriet Potter. |
| Eden was interested! |
| I believe this is a red-tailed boa. |
| Joseph pet a baby alligator! |
A presentation some students did. I found out our school has its own song...like a real song! The kids sang, danced, and even performed taekwondo. |
Eli's class kind of had a rough school year after winter break. Their teacher left mid-semester, they went through so many substitutes, and their new teacher keeps getting sick. She wasn't at the open house, but we got to see the classroom. The teacher did send Eli presenting his animal presentation: he did the ocean sunfish.
| Eli picked it for Joseph as this is one of his current favorite animals. |
| Eli's self-portrait. I like how he likes to draw realistically. |
Then we went to Joseph's classroom. The teacher had a projector up showing photos throughout the year. She also had children's work up around the classroom. It was fun to see where Joseph spends his time.
| Joseph's "Hello Universe" essay and artwork. |
| Joseph's Women's Day presentation poster. He chose me. |
Joseph's Rain Forest presentation on the computer screen. He brought in actual poison dart frogs for the kids to look at. That's what's in his hand. |
| Can you find Joseph's? (Hint, it's on the bottom right, the left one...it wasn't hard to find for us!) |
(3/30) Eden's preschool also had a multicultural day in the form of a presentation and performance with a potluck afterward. There are two classes in the preschool and Eden's class presented India. I thought everything was put together so well! Eden wore a traditional outfit given to her by one of her teachers and came out with a bindi on her forehead.
They had a little presentation where Eden answered the question "What is the pink city of India?" "Jaipur!" They also performed Indian dances. Her best friend Olivia slaaaaayed the dance, they were all so cute up there!
| They had a performance with traditional drums from (*insert country I forgot in Africa) |
| Look at all these sweet kids! |
| Bears Class 2022-2023! |
Everyone signed up to bring a multicultural dish for lunch (with cheese pizza for the kids). I didn't know what to bring, but ended up with green chile chicken enchiladas (#NewMexicoTrue).
| My spread (Indian, Scandinavian, Chinese, Mexican, Jewish, and...Vegan). |
And the kids had pizza (of course).
This was Teacher Grace's last day. She was Eden's favorite because she liked to color her hair different colors. |
Did I mention how much I love their schools? They do a great job with these events and I'm so happy my children got to be a part of it.
