No More School!

I just realized that I have no more school for the next two and a half years! Woo hoo! I'm pretty sure I did well on all my finals (I just finished my physics final this afternoon), and now I am ready to go off and serve a mission. My mission papers are being processed in Salt Lake (as of Wednesday), so I should get my call within the next couple of weeks. Yay!

In other news, I was recently awarded the Rana Rose and Hy Adler Award for Outstanding Freshman. This is an annual UNM Honor's Program scholarship of $300 for two freshman based on faculty nominations. I guess it pays off to get to know the professors! (and yes, that is my Honor's professor reading from my self-published book... oh man, I hope she didn't find too many typos...)

TWA Date

It was recently Baby Dillon's 16th birthday, and I promised to show him how the dating scene goes. He took out Jenessa Mortensen, and I took out Sara Hardy. I left it up to him to plan the date. We started at UNM to try to use up my meal plan, and we ended up hiking on the path to the TWA crash site. We had a list of some random things that we needed to find for a type of photo-scavenger hunt. Here are some that I took:

Sweet fort!

We stopped at this waterfall instead of hiking all the way to the plane crash. It was still a pretty long hike!

This was the best shot of the rapid squirrel that was on our list of things to find. It was seriously crazy looking.

Sweet rock!

Brokeback to the Future

This is a movie trailer I ran across a while back. I was really disappointed to see the "R" rating!

Tent Rocks

On this glorious Saturday, our branch had a hiking activity at Tent Rocks, a national monument in northern New Mexico.

There were some pretty sweet rock formations!

Here is Amanda and some of the formations that we hiked around:

There was also a couple parts where we had to climb up using ropes. How exciting!

Of course, Johnny doesn't really need the ropes. What a beast!

Following our adventures with rope, crumbly ground, and steep ascents, I decided to have fun with some pictures. It was difficult to take these because the sun was so bright that I couldn't see my camera screen, but they didn't turn out too horribly:

Wait, who is that?!?!

Why, it's Amanda! Incredible!

I have a new hypothesis on why Johnny is so beastly: he's made out of solid rock!

Even after all the fun and pure exhilaration of this trip, we were dead tired when we got back. While driving back to Albuquerque, we slept, tied knots, and sang in falsetto.

Well, it is now time for me to bid you goodbye. I am off to prepare a presentation for my honors class. Wish me luck!

My Famous Friend

After going to the temple to do baptisms this evening, I had the great opportunity to see one of my good friends, Paul Twitchell, in the Daily Lobo. He's famous! (Click on the picture below to see the full article).

Yes, people, that's right. A signature from the individual on the cover of the Daily Lobo. Man, I feel special.

And, of course, a movie of my good friend Paul. I hope you enjoy!

New Template

I was getting a little jealous of all my family and friends with their sweet blog templates, so here's my first attempt at designing my own! I thought it was pretty cool. I put this together this morning while I should have been studying for a Calculus exam. Let me know if everything is formatted correctly!
